Common traps
- From 1 Dec 2026, new Copilot Business licences bought through a CSP have usage-based billing ON by default, with a default limit of 4,000 Copilot Credits per user per month (about $40/user/month at $0.01/credit). Set your own limit, or 0 to switch it off.
- The cost-management policy's 'Auto-apply new services' setting is on by default, so new metered services join the policy automatically.
- Until 1 Dec 2026 a qualifying Microsoft 365 base licence is required to buy. From 1 Dec, new Copilot offers can be bought without one, but Copilot still only works in the M365 apps you are licensed for.
- Monthly billing on an annual commitment costs about 5% more (£24.26 vs £23.10).
- The £13.80 Copilot Business promo is first-year only and reverts to list on renewal.
